While Tara and I were appearing at the “Self-Health & Awareness Expo” in West Virginia, October 2003, Catherine Wayne gave us copies of photos she had taken at the 7-Day Super
Seminar, 1983. The seminar was the seventh, multi-speaker gathering of this kind at the luxurious Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Arizona. We posted one of Catherine’s photos on this site in November. Many people
responded, remembering the gathering of approximately 200 people and a dozen speakers over 20 years ago. Tara found some more photos, and I’ve added some explanations.
 This photo of Tara and me was taken at Rawhide on the edge of Scottsdale, AZ. As part of the seminar festivities, the participants and speakers gathered for

 Tara and I met in February 1983. Her son William was six, and my son Travis was five. At this time, we were living together in Malibu, CA.
My psychic friends predicted our meeting. Alan Vaughan said, “You’re going to meet a beautiful, lean lady with long black hair very soon--around Christmas time or shortly thereafter. She
will be very important to you and I think you’ll live together.” Actress/author Susan Strasberg said my numerology indicated a very important relationship was
forthcoming and 1984 would be a marriage year. Encino, CA psychic Lorraine Laahs predicted my Arizona involvement with a “dark-haired woman with Indian blood.” At the time, Tara did not know she was
one-quarter Native American. My astrologer, Barbara May, had told me to be ready for a predestined meeting that was “very strong” in my chart. (Photo: Richard Ruehs)

 Scottsdale, AZ will always be one of my favorite places. I had lived here for years before moving to Malibu. After Tara and I married in 1984, we
moved to Scottsdale for a year, before returning to California. Today, we visit the city a couple times a year, and it always feels like coming home. (Photo: Catherine Wayne)

 Featured speaker Jess Stearn, author of “Edgar Cayce The Sleeping Prophet” and many other New Age books, had introduced
me to Tara six months earlier. Three years before, Jess predicted to Tara that she would meet the most important man in her life through him. He also foresaw her, dressed in
white, embracing this man on the patio of his Malibu home. Tara and I were married on the deck of Jess’ home in March, 1984.
 Jess never lacked for abundant female attention. He died in 2001, but Tara remains in contact with him via automatic writing.
 Author Brad Steiger was a featured speaker at the seminar. To me, Brad is the ultimate metaphysical researcher, having written more books
on New Age subjects than anyone else.

 The promotional seminar copy on speaker Alan Vaughan read: “Alan is America’s top psychic -- ‘the world’s most successful psychic
predictor’ according to the Central Premonitions Registry in NY. He is also the author of four top books on prophecy and synchronicity.” At this time, Alan also worked as my editor on “Reincarnation
Report” magazine.

 Navajo Shaman/artist David Paladin was a featured speaker. His tribal name was Chethlahe, and I wrote about our relationship in You Were Born Again
To Be Together (Pocket Books 1976).
 In the main ballroom at Camelback Inn. Although I’ve never talked a lot about it, I learned far more about working an audience from country
singer Waylon Jennings than anyone else. Waylon used to live in Scottsdale and was the house act at JD’s -- a Tempe club. My karate dojo was across the street, and I used to hang out there after the sessions.

 Tara and I with Christine Conrad (Christine Pritchett today). Christine was my seminar coordinator in 1982-83. We traveled the country
together, laughing all the way. Christine put together the support teams and handled logistics.
 Christine is assisting this stage hypnosis show. The hypnotized subjects have all taken an imaginary bird from a box. They are literally
seeing and feeling the bird on their hands. I’ve told them to teach their bird a trick and Christine is holding the microphone so each person can describe what their bird can do.
 Stage show with 12 participants from the audience.
 My oldest son Scott was my backup and sound and lighting guy at big seminars and when we were touring in a Silver Eagle bus.
Today, Scott owns “Malibu Shaman,” a metaphysical store in the Cross Creek shopping area of Malibu, CA.

 Henry Thome, a friend and country singer, provided entertainment.
 Lauren Leigh Taylor on stage. Lauren and I were close friends and we worked together for years. We co-wrote the book, “Past-Life Therapy In Action,” and
conducted the “Bushido Seminar Training” together. Lauren died of breast cancer in 1993. I still miss her.
 I loved catching this shot of Lauren. The “Super” was a casual seminar with the swimming pool right outside the doors of the ballroom.
 As I said, a very casual seminar.
 Featured speakers: Film actress Susan Strasberg, author/inventor Patrick Flanagan, and crystal specialist Gale Gordon. Patrick
introduced the world to pyramid power. Susan, Patrick and I often hung out together in LA. A favorite activity was to appear together on Bill Jenkin’s KABC metaphysical radio show. Gale and
Patrick eventually married and moved to Sedona.
 New Age musician Steven Halpern appeared live at the seminar.
 Bruce Vaughan wrote a book on body language and presented a short course on the subject at this seminar.

 Some of my favorite times are always in the “green room” for the speakers and seminar staff.
 When the seminars are held in Scottsdale or Sedona, Arizona, the participants and speakers often gather outdoors around the swimming pool.

filled in for speakers who could not make it.
